Rheumatological conditions can masquerade as acute or chronic musculoskeletal disorders. This creates a challenge for clinicians to correctly diagnose and manage such presentations. The focus of this lecture is on improving knowledge and awareness of detecting and appropriately managing rheumatological conditions.

Presenter/s

Dr John Wood is a rheumatologist at the Cairns Hospital where he has a joint appointment with the James Cook University School of Medicine as a Senior Lecturer. He has an interest in research having completed a Clinical Fellowship in Rheumatology at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath, United Kingdom. Dr Wood is a member of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and is actively involved in the teaching and mentoring of physician trainees
